Hi guys!!
We are wrapping up our first week in Japan and life has been kureiji (crazy).
We are still in a hotel but we have a house lined up, a tiny car and are looking forward to being reunited with all our stuff! I had a pretty killer headache for the last few days but am finally starting to feel like a human again. There is SO much to do the first week here, it is completely overwhelming. We have been super lucky to have a solid sponsor and some amazing friends to help us get around and get on our feet here.
Love:
-Okinawa!! It is ridiculously gorgeous here and I'm still in shock that we get to live here!
-The food. And the lack of scales in this hotel.
-The people and the language. They might be telling me to go fu#@ myself but they sound so adorable and polite I don't really care.
-Japanese cartoons and commercials (the ones for horrifying bad breath treatment are SO AMAZING.)
Hate:
-All the admin crap you have to do to get settled.
-Having to rely on other people to get around. (Guilt city: population you.)
-Mandatory newcomers orientation. Don't do drugs, drink and drive or embarrass the US military. Got it. Shouldn't take 6 hours to say so.
Oh, and wish me luck during my first typhoon!!

ReplyDeleteGlad you made it safely! I lived on Okinawa from 5th-7th grade and LOVED it! Perfect place for families and so much to do! We lived at Camp Courtney, but I went to three different schools at Camp McTureous, Kadena, and Camp Lester, so if you need any info, let me know!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds fun! Enjoy your typhoon :)
