Who likes a good Crime/Suspense novel?
Me too.

Never Tell by Alafair Burke definitely fits the bill.

Synopsis:
NYPD Detective Ellie Hatcher investigates 16 year old Julia Whitmire's death, which initially appears to be an apparent suicide.  However, as she delves deeper into the life of this privileged and troubled teen she begins to question the cause of death.

One Lady's Opinion:
The book is well written and hooks you from the beginning, with just enough plot twists to keep you guessing.  The characters are excellently developed and Julia's mother is an especially strong character for me.  She has devoted so much time to ensuring that her husband doesn't have the opportunity to have yet another affair that in essence she's abandoned her daughter, a fact that haunts her after Julia's death.  You both condemn and commiserate with her.

Author Alafair Burke  hosted this year's Duffer Awards , which I take as a sure sign that we'll be seeing more from her!
I can tell you with almost total certainty that you will finish this book in one sitting. When heavy hitters like Dennis Lehane are raving, you know it's going to be good! Never Tell has all the elements of great crime fiction and I look forward to reading more from Ms. Burke!

  1. I love a one-sitting book, though I'm sure my family doesn't appreciate when I get into one! LOL

Thanks for being a part of the tour. I'm featuring your review on TLC's Facebook page today.
