The day before my birthday Spouse called to tell me that he had arranged for a sitter to watch our kids and my sister's kids so we could go on a double date out to dinner.
So I made sure I didn't eat anything the rest of the day to make room for a yummy dinner out.
*Something you should know about me: I turn into a very mean person when I'm hungry.
Spouse was a little late getting home after picking up the sitter and then he went upstairs to shower and get dressed while we all waited.
Usually that takes about 3 minutes, but 20 minutes later we were all still waiting.
My empty stomach was losing patience.
I went to the bottom of the stairs and through clenched teeth asked Spouse what in the hell was taking so long. Did he want me to eat someone's face off? Because I was about to.
(Then I smiled like I was being sarcastic so as not to freak out the company, but Spouse and I both knew he was about 5 minutes from full-blown silent Lady wrath.)
So we FINALLY get on the road when Spouse tells me we have to stop at Rita's house to return a wrench to her hubby.
At that point I wanted to scream.
And when Spouse ran back to the car after returning it to tell me that Rita wanted to meet my sister, I nearly did.
So as my stomach ate itself I walked into Rita's house with my sister for introductions.
And saw balloons...
And yummy food...
And a room full of my friends all yelling SURPRISE!!!
And I got all sweaty and red-faced and teary eyed as I realized that the whole night had been a set up for my birthday party.
Dear Hussy, thanks for your organized and efficient memo pad party planning. I appreciate you vetoing all of Spouse's ideas to give me such an awesome party, even if it wasn't Indian themed. I'm sorry that in my moment of nervous surprise I forgot your dislike for PDA and hugged you, causing my boobs to touch yours. I know you hate that but I was awkward and nervous and didn't know what else to do but hug. I'm glad we were able to shake it off. I will never speak of it again.
I just noticed that we all have really good looking husbands. Especially that one all laid back on the counter with big biceps who tries to plan surprise parties for me and makes sure to buy plastic wine glasses because he knows I like things fancy.

It was so fun! I think I've hugged the hussy a lot and never knew until this week her abhorrence of PDA. I'm gonna act like I didn't know and keep on doing it! hehehehe

I love surprises! Happy Birthday again bella, hope it was the lovliest....The last surprise birthday party I had was my 30th...ahem, that was near a decade ago...I think I'm due, can you hint to my hubs...oh wait, I might be having a baby around then...Lord have mercy I hope I have that baby before my birthday... that would actually be the best surprise ever! Ok, well maybe after that...or at least for my 40th!!!!
